Well since my Nics were lip locking over a week ago I havn't seen them much. They are both in the back right corner. Havnt seen the female at all and the male can be seen slightly. They havn't eaten at all.
I have had this pair for almost two years (since babies) and had given up hope on...
...so the young pair of Cichlasoma bimaculatus (wild ones from Suriname) that I got from last month's Jeff Rapps group buy have spawned in their 20 long quarantine tank... They're about 3" each.
The babies are quite small but have an interesting spotted pattern. The parents seem to be doing...
...so I got a pair of these guys from Julie (thanks to Tony for bringing them back for me!)...

I got 7 gold Occies over a year ago from Jose who got them from Sarah. I've had Africans spawn all the time in my tank, but these guys never did for me. Last night I found bunch of tiny babies. Very exciting. :D They are my 7 year old daughter's fish and she is very excited as well. Very...
I was going to revive the old thread and add to it, but it had too many posts. Here it is if anyone's interested:

Anyhow, I was doing a water change on Saturday and saw the clowns going nuts guarding the area where they spawned...
Amatitlania is the new name for the "convicts"... and there are now four species (with a varient in each collection location, kinda like peacocks): nigrofasciatus, siquia, kanna and coatepeque. Honduran Red Points and some others are still not formally described

My super red male kribensis has spawned with my yellow krib female. They dug under the glossostigma and flourite at the front of my 54 corner and have laid the eggs against the glass. The parents are taking turns guarding the eggs.
I figured out why my dominate female when really crazy over the last few days. I have one m/f pair sectioned off with a divider a three other females on the larger side of the divider. Some how my largest female from the male-less side had a brood that hatched at the same time as the m/f pair...

I have a small group of Mpimbwe frontosa (Gibberosa) with an alpha male that is maybe 5.5" at best. The others range from 3.5"-5". I had the preconception that frontosa take forever to reach sexual maturity and had to be close to full grown before able to spawn. I recently noticed one...
Some shots from a recent spawn. I had this pair in a 55 with 5 other Pthychochromis oligacanthus sp. Red Fin Nosey Bey and another Paretroplus maculatus. Once some serious spawning behaviour began I moved the other fish. Alas, I was too slow for the sub-male that was in the tank a nd he...
Had two pairs in a 75 with some other mixed fish. It would appear that one pair finally put it all together just in time to find the male jumped out the back of the tank. Managed to save 8 fry so far. Not sure if I am going to get more. The other pair seems to be hard at work on giving me...
