Upgrade to my fishroom

A siphon hose is a "tool" right?

My fishroom in Cali was half of our two car garage :)

Matt

Normally, I'd agree...but for the sake of marital harmony....I'll concede the garage. Besides, I do get the back portion of it for my tools and excess aquarium parts.

Hm. Okay the knobs came off the lids. I've tried silicone and I've tried epoxy. Neither held. I guess I'll switch back to electrical tape tabs until I get some traditional stick-on aquarium lid handles.

I JUST finished moving the last row of tanks. The room is a total disaster, but that will have to wait till tomorrow to get cleaned up.

But it feels nice/right, neh?

Isn't this fun? In a semi-instant tangible sort of way for one...

It IS a lot of fun. Fish are much happier with the extra real estate.

Looks great! Gratz on the upgrade!

Thanks!

Very nice. How are you filtering the tanks? Sponges in each one or a central system?

Poret Mattenfilters. Air driven wall-of-foam in the back of each tank. That's how I had my 10s set up, and I really like how well it works.

Where do you keep the beer? I thought that was required for a fishroom.

Actually, it's in the extra fridge down there along with my extra fish food and soda!

There is a door to the outside immediately behind and to the right of these tanks. I have an extra piece of PVC that I attach to run the water out the door. The downside is that I have to leave the door cracked open while I work, but it's so quick that it's not too bad.

Then, I take tubes (or tubes with gravel vacs depending on how bad the tank is) and start the siphon into the closest opening below the tank and let it drain. I do large waterchanges weekly.

For filling, I use one of those white RV hoses and have it attached to the shower in our downstairs bathroom. I have a garden hose Y connector with an adapter where the showerhead is supposed to go. That way, I have one branch of the Y for filling tanks, while I can leave the other attached to my RO system. Each branch of the Y also has an individual shutoff. One of the pics in this thread shows it filling a tank.

Since we still use this part of the house for occasional entertaining, I have to be able to clean up/hide all of my extra fishroom junk when needed. So, the hoses all get coiled up and tucked in the shower and the buckets go in the garage when we have folks over.

If the Gorilla glue doesn't hold up. I use the little 1" glass tiles for handles, silicone 3 together, top one offset. You can get a 12"x12" sheet of them from hd or lowes for just a few bucks.
