Ron are all the Mada. cichlids in there? I noticed Oxylapia is missing where should it go?

I also noticed some of the asian cichlids are missing... I don't know where the heck ot put these...

Iranocichla and Tristramella ( anyone know anything about these fish? )

Others (old world) I don't know anything about... or where to put them.

Etia
Myaka
Pallidochromis tokolosh
Divandu
Chetia
Schubotzia
Schwetzochromis
Gobiocichla
Cyathochromis obliquidens

I know a lot of the haps in the old world area have been changed... should I go through them all or leave it?

Sarah, Can you post the Old World list now and let me take another shot at it with the way you list now? Also, I wouldn't put TOOOOOO much more into this. Let someone breed the fish and then ASK where to put it. I think a panel of a few could answer most suggestions on placement.

Anyway, post the Old World and any genus you think shoudl be included and I will take a shot at it.

PS: I bred the Trets about 6 years ago, I didn't think it was a big deal and not many would buy them so I got rid of the stock and moved on. Actually I couldn't get the gold to breed for me, and I liked them better. So much for the point system........ :smashfreakB: and me anyway.

I was going to suggest the same thing. If someone has a spawn with a fish not on the list, then the committee can place it in the appropriate points category.

I haven't seen the latest list yet, but I think they were on there for 1.0 points and 1.5 points for the Otopharynx. I also think I read that the first person to breed those would take a 20 points penalty.

Thanks for being the first Mike. :angel2:

Looking at the New World list:

I do not see Paratheraps, Parachromis or Vieja on the points list and unless I missed a species reorganization there are way to many Nandopsis species (looks like some of those should be Parachromis, probably same type of thing for the Vieja and Paratheraps).

Damn evolution!

In reality... I know nothing about new worlds

So, I know most that have been posting on this thread have access to edit my first post. If you see problems fix it for me please :) Ie: new names etc.

The problem is......

I am not sure about them myself. I know what fish i have (at least what they were sold to me as). I have been looking around the ol' Internet and everyone names them something else.
Is Fishbase kept up to date?

BIG issue: There is no such thing as Pterophyllum Dumerilii. The name was changed to Leopoldi some time ago. This article by Angels Plus has put it the best I have seen anywhere on wild Angel species:
http://www.angelsplus.com/ArticleWildAngelfish.htm

I actually have an adult wild Leopoldi. He is clearly different from the domestics in with him. And both the domestics and the Leo are distinctly different from the two wild Scalares in the tank, who are also pretty different from each other......

The domestic Angels are all hybrids of several species, and I do not think they should be grouped under the Scalares.

The angels...20 pts for the mixed up scalares only once, 30 points for the wild scalares, i.e. Peruvian scalare (1), and Venezuelan, Columbian,(1) etc.

I'm going by this list: http://cichlidae.com/gallery/default.php

They are listed on the species list you provide, just not on the list with the points values (I just think they may be named wrong on the points list).

Hi!

I mostly agree with Francine on the Angels.... 20 for Domestics of ANY variety, 30 points for all wilds NOT of Altum variety (the whole species needs to be badly re-classified, I swear I have three wild Angels and all three look like different species, none of which are Altums and look different from Francine's wild Scalare) and the Altums should get 50 pts. The reason to move the Leopoldi from the 50 pt category is that they are about as easy to breed as Scalares and don't really belong in the 50 pt catagory.

The reasoning is, domestic Angels are fairly easy to breed but not the easiest, wilds are rather harder to breed, and Altums haven't (as far as I know) EVER been breed, Altum to Altum, in captivity.

Just my two cents!
Amanda.
