Game: Name that fish!

Well, it is an African Cichlid!

Not sure if it is even in the hobby...maybe some French hobbyists have it, since that picture came off of a french website.

Here's a hint... This fish is in Anton Lamboj's book .

Is this a female?

No male.

Not in full color obviously, but close to it. Not nearly as colorful or striking as another species in the same genus. That other fish is probably the most colorful species in this genus...

It was described in 1970. It is on cichlidae.com

Not quite - but I do think my husband had it at a restaurant a few weeks ago. Hint: Unfortunately, because it is considered luxury seafood in countries like ours and others (in addition to not reaching sexual maturity until 6-9 years of age) populations are in deep decline.
