Hey everyone, my pair of Panduro just spawned! I got this pair a few weeks ago from Sam and now they have eggs in the little pot he gave me. Thanks Sam! Here are pics:
When I came home from school I caught the corys spawning. The other
corys where eating a few of the other eggs but, since this is their first
spawn in one of my tanks my expectations are very low. Here are some
pics:
Here are the eggs
And this is the female about to lay them
Sorry about...
I picked up a pair of Krobia Guianensis from Jon a couple weeks back to add to my 55 gallon. Last night I saw them guarding an impressive number of eggs on a coconut shell. My rainbow cichlids have never been able to successfully guard eggs in this tank (they are much smaller than the krobia)...
I thought that I posted these pictures of them when I stripped the female but I must not have. The parents are F1 and came from Cichlids Are Special. I purchased them at Aquamania last spring and they spawned in late July. The fry will be in tomorrow's auction! Sorry for the horrible phone...
Hey guys! I went down for the night feeding on my 75 and one of my Cobalt Red Top Zebra females has eggs! About a week after I added the group of six, I started to see a color change in one of the vented females. It was turning into a male color pattern!!! I go downstairs tonight and this fish...
Just wanted to share my excitement.
I just caught my young Haplochromis sp. ‘thereuterion’ spawning for the first time. These are endangered CARES fish from Lake Victoria and are roughly the equivalent of Lake Tang's Cyprichromis.
Keeping my fingers crossed...
Actually, technically I had two random African cichlids breed in my 55g last year but I could only guess at the parents.
I picked up a pair of Apisto. Viejita sp. "Red Neck" from Batfish at their open house earlier this summer. (From what I've read online, Viejita hasn't been imported in years...
Came home from work yesterday to find my Dicrossus maculatus laying it down on a leaf.
About 1-2 days post 20% water change and blackworm feeding. I really need to start keeping better track of this stuff.
The bad news is I'm battling some sort of algae that came in on plants in that tank...
I posted about this under a different forum heading, but I suppose I should also post about it here--
Came home from work today, looked into my 55-gallon tank, and lo and behold, there were a bunch of fry buzzing around my rainbow cichlids! This is my first spawn ever, so I could use some...
I had put an extra pair of these Convicts into a temporary tank since they were getting beaten up by another pair of Coatepeques in my 45. While in their temporary tank, they spawned. I've been having fun watching them take care of their fry, which always seem to have full little bellies...
I got the parents a few months ago from one of our auctions, and I'm really digging these fish! Males are a lovely striped blue, with females taking on a yellowish tint.
This is the first batch I've noticed....the adults aren't yet full size so it was a small batch, with only eight fry!
Been back in the hobby less than a year now and have only had convicts spawn for me so far (never really tried to breed anything before) so you can imagine I was pretty happy this evening to catch these guys in the act... I knew it was coming.. they have been working on digging out two pits and...
Well I'll be... no sooner do I decide my female checkerboard is NOT a maculatus than the pair goes and spawns. My female is guarding eggs :D.
She's a little unprofessional about it, so I don't know if they'll last - as in "I'm guarding eggs, but oh, did you walk up to the tank, are we...
I got this pair from Tparker. They spawn a lot for me but this is the first time I filled out the BAP form and tried to follow through with the whole deal. First pic is Dad. Next is remaining fry in my 220. Last is pulled fry in a breeder box. Just have to raise them up bring them to the...
I picked up a pair of Honduran Jags on Sunday, woke on Wed morning and eggs were everywhere. I got home yesterday and half the eggs were gone thanks to the local common pleco which I promptly moved to another tank, two hours later more eggs down... cant wait to see wigglers....:):)
Thanks Drew...
OK, my first BAP report...
This is not an innovative or remarkable spawn as these fish are EASY to breed. In fact, I've seen the club auction price drop to almost nothing because everyone has them. If you haven't bred these yet or are interested in how it works, here's a brief thumbnail on my...
I picked up 3 of these Ancistrus as juvies at the 2012 ACA meeting. Ended up with 2M and 1F. They have phenomenal finnage! Their first spawn is finally on its own in the parents tank and I checked in the spawning cave of the dominant male yesterday and they spawned again! He's already...
First spawn of Rusties. Out of eight fish, I ended up with seven that made it to adulthood.....and I'm pretty certain that six ended up being males and only one appears to be female! The six boys are so busy circling each other and strutting their stuff that the girl gets left on her own most...
They're also sometimes also called L144s. I got three of these at the 2012 ACA meeting and they've spawned a few times, but dad ate the eggs.
This time it seems he's being much more parental (I ended up with 2M and 1F so maybe it's the other male this time).
