If you have you use sponges or airstones what kind of pump do you use.
If you are using a big pump, how many outlets are you running at this point.

I think I am running about 100 outlets right now. The best thing about it is that I can stand 10 feet from it and not hear it.

I don't remember how many outlets I drilled 'cos I added another section for the rack with the 6 15 gal tanks, but a lot of them are closed and a few are open.

They run a lot less than jehmco. A little more wat use... but not much. mine ran about 60 bucks... compared to jehmco's that was 350+ for what I wanted.

They are marketed towards ponds. VERY quiet .... mine has worked for about 3-4 year now.

I don't know why these aren't more popular in the aquarium trade. Maybe I'm missing something !! But I am happy with it.

I really don't know how many outlets... but I'm running about 1,000 gallons of water.

Now I also have 3 water pumps. I use them for the 2 sumps I run. They are quiet... but I forget what the heck they are.

These are linear piston and not linear diaphragm, right?

What brand are the ones that Jehmco sells anyway? I figure saving $30-$40 plus shipping for Jehmco's equivolent is worth it, no?

I'm using the Jehmco linear pump LP-60. Get a pump that will allow you to expand if you need to later on. You will want to order extra of any parts(airfilters,diaphram ect,) that you replace so you don't have to wait if one stops working.

All my tanks have sponge filters driven by a air stone to help keep the noise down. Starting today I will be running two sponges in every tank instead of one . The reason behind that is I just lost some fish when a air stone clogged on a heavily stocked tank. I figure with a extra filter at least one of them should function so you don't lose fish.:wacko::angry::wacko:

i am using the Coralife Super Luft Air Pump SL 65 3.9 psi $69.95

am running 10 sponge filters and bubbling a brine shrinp hatchery with no problem...

pump is rather loud but my fish room is not in my living room either so not a big deal for me ....

I have a Pondmaster AP-50 or 40 cant remember I will have to check when I get home. I think my pump is really, really quit, I guess I got lucky.

AS FAR AS AIR PUMPS GO I BELEIVE A LINEAR PUMP IS QUIETER BUT ALSO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE. MY AV 50 IS PRETTY QUIET

I am getting the Alita al100 for up to 100 outlets, I will have about 40-50 outlets on it initially. Its also a linear pump and supposed to be pretty quiet. I will give more info when it arrives. Kensfish has great prices on them.

I have it in the storage side of the basement.
Our speaker was within 5 feet of it the other day and could not hear it. lol
I have empty styros stacked up in front of it. So much better than the noise of the blower I used to have.
