The fish that I got at the AquaMania 2 rare fish auction have FINALLY SPAWNED!!! For those who are not familiar with them, take a look at this brief article here http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=3859
I noticed one of the fish holding today. These are VERY shy cichlids and spend most of the time hiding. I've tried various different dithers with moderate to poor success.
I wasn't even sure she was holding so I used a net to shoo her toward the front of the tank where she promptly spit all of the eggs into the net and all over the sand underneath. (sigh) So, I carefully collected the eggs in the net and on the bottom and have them in a tumbler right now. I'm not sure how robust the eggs are, but hopefully she'll spawn again soon if this batch doesn't make it.
