Reusing waste water?

Wow, my reference was way off. When I first looked it appeared to be like four foot tall. Pics usually make tanks look small but in this case it looked huge....to me atleast.

it's not quite that big, but it is a deep tank. If I want to do any planting in it, I have to wear a tank top otherwise even my t-shirt sleeves get wet.

I think Becca mentioned on another post what a PITA deep tanks are....even with the stepladder and all, it sucks getting tank water dribbling down your armpit and into your bra.

Sort of figured out a solution:

Used an old sink fitting as a "bulkhead", then it's attached to a wet/dry vacuum hose with holes punched in it. It's far from perfect, most of the water comes out the end of the hose unless it's lifted significantly...which backs up the system.

Call it a proof of concept for now. I may try at a more elegant solution when I don't have to make one for free.

I have a shut off valve on it so I can store 5-6 gallons for later in the week too now.

Thanks guys, Louie wasn't happy about me being more than 3 feet away from him. He was whining so bad. He's an Olde English/American Bulldog, came from the animal shelter.

From what Ive read here and there, most terrestrial plants prefer forms of nitrogen other than nitrate. So I suspect its not too big a deal.
