Did you lose all the fish that were in tap water or just the knifefish?

To my knowledge, the only surviving fish are one of the clown knifefish that reel_addiction has, and the redtail catfish that I gave to a guy who lives in upper marlboro. But of course, you could probably leave a redtail catfish on your carpet for half the day, and the dang thing won't die! LOL...
