NoVa/DC Metro/MD living

Dude! You could be my neighbor :)
Which would also make you within a mile of George The Curmudgeon and Michael Barber. You know, where all the cool kids are.

Seriously though, Reston/Herndon is better than Sterling for the most part, but you pay for the privilege of living in the "cooler" area. George pulls down our average, but there are PLENTY of younger 20-30 somethings here. You could also check out Ashburn, it's totally exploding with new development in the last few years

Alexandria is a nice place to live (well, some areas at least), but you'll want to shoot yourself in the face every day sitting on the Beltway. No, really. And if you're smart you'll avoid living ANYWHERE that you have to take 66 as your only option to get somewhere. Gotten to the point where any time of any day is a total crap shoot whether or not all lanes will be stopped for absolutely no reason at all. Really is amazing....

Jen hit it on the head. 66 is a friggin nightmare all the time. Amazing how its backed up the whole day Saturadays and Sundays. If I had to move down there, I'd stick closer to the Toll Road.

Thanks for the advice Jen!

A couple of my coworkers are been mentioning Ashburn and Leesburg for someone in my situation. They say I could literally "work" my way to DC. Starting in Leesburg and ending in DC lol. But I want the opposite, ha!

Seems like 267 is where I need to be, well, anywhere off of the toll road.

ummmmmm 95% of my family is in Southern Cali ( Pasadena area/San diego/Santa Barbara ). If you want to be jobless move there. Luckily most of my family is retired ( I'm the baby ). Not the place to move to right now. Things are REALLY bad there right now.

Unfortunately, the toll road is not that great either during the rush hour. But no where really is around here ...

From the time I started working in Dulles, the toll road hasn't been bad at all.
It's just horrible when it takes you 45mins to go 1/4mi onto the on ramp from the toll road to 495.

Is there a verdict for which area?
I plan on looking at places in two weeks. Maybe have a lunch with some of the NoVa people?

As much as it pains me to recommend a friend living "South of the Border," I think it probably is the best decision for you.

I would give my left newt for a short commute. :p

Will do Jose! Pm me your number.
I've narrowed it down to these places,
Silver spring, north Bethesda, NW DC, Arlington, Crystal city, Falls Church, Georgetown and Reston.

Sweet... so you've narrowed it down to 60% of the DC beltway. :p

I'll do lunch whenever you want to check out Reston. I can throw a rock and hit Reston from my place (almost literally). Plus we could drop in on George or Michael Barber, heehee.
