In before the lock!
And if I could add my 2 cents. I personally get super excited about my fish. And I am still far from an expert on any species I keep. Though I have been keeping cichlids for two years now.
That said I can relate to space and how he maybe took offense to some of the comments. I have learned that communication through text is difficult. By that I mean it is difficult to hear the tone of some ones voice. A comment that may not be controversial when spoken may be quite offensive when read in text. We all should consider how our text could be miss interpreted. Now please understand that clearly readable text with proper grammar will go a long way to prevent misinterpretation. A lesson to be learned by all but Sam.
To identify a amph a lab or cit from a visual inspection is impossible. The guys who specialize in the species like Jeff Rapps even can not identify a fish in that fashion. But if I bought a fish and was told it was a wild caught fish no matter who I bought it from I would have to take them at their word. Even if to others it seemed unlikely. If he bought the fish at pet world in the tide water area it is highly possible they were traded in by some one or that they them selves bought wild fish. But I don't know? Neither does he unless he asks. Lets cut him some slack and try to educate a lesser experienced fish keeper. Instead of hopping on the new guy for spouting information that may be believed by others to be false.
I understand the concern of mislabling a fish morally. And if you are concerned about that buy your fish from a trusted source. And leave the mislabeling to the LFS.
I would also like to caution a young man like myself to heed the knowledge and experience of the members here on CCA. We are lucky to have a wealth of knowledge at our disposal here at the CCA site. And while opinions are just that. They are bred from experience. I personally rather have that on my side rather than working against me.
I will step down from my soap box now.
