New BAP Chairman - George Cowan

Past CCA President
As announced at the meeting yesterday, George Cowan (Turfboss) has agreed to become our new BAP Chairman. Thanks again to George for taking on the task.

Along with our new Chairman, I have gone back through the records posted up in the BAP forum and have created a spreadsheet to track points going forward. There were some accounting errors in the points posted to date, so over the next few days I will go back an make the necessary adjustments. The adjustments will NOT count toward the individuals' total points for the calendar year, but will count toward the overall total points.

The next step in getting the Program going in the club is getting up to date with any forms that have been submitted yet points were not awarded. Hopefully all of you have kept copies of the forms you turned in. If so, please forward another copy to George and copy me (PM me if you need my email address). We will do our best to get these points awarded correctly and they will count towards this year's totals.

For those of you who had not previously participated in the BAP, now is a great time to get involved. Send a PM to George and he can set you up as a competitor. It's just that easy.

Remember, there are multiple prizes awarded at the end of the year. The prizes are awarded for Breeder of the year, New World Breeder, Old World Breeder, Rookie of the year, and most efficient breeder (most points per gallon of tank in your house).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Good Luck!

I've started to make some of the updates. I'll get through them in the next day or two. I do actually have to do some work at work during the day...

Okay, so I lied about working at work today.

I have updated all the points that I know about from the historical record on the forum. The points should be up to date through what I know.

Please get any old forms to George and we will work on getting up to speed.

Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone for the "Pay it Forward" compliments on accepting this position - hope I can live up to the responsibility and be on point with keeping things up to date.

In addition to Jon and I trying to get the current standings and points awarded "up to date" - we are working on automating some of the processes - in the meantime if you have forms submitted for which you do not see points awarded send me information and we will get things straightened out.

One of my first goals is to see how well we can automate this process - first step is to get the BAP form up and running on-line (Shawn you were going to send me the forms you have created) so you can fill it out on-line and submit it directly. I will electronically sign that initial form and return it to you - so you will know it was received and you will have a signed copy of the submittal.

We are also working toward creating a leader board for the forum - checking with Li on that to see how much we can get into some form of a matrix to let folks know who has the points (and if possible where they are getting them from - spawns, sales, articles, presentations, etc) - we shall see how far we can get with this approach - it may be more than Li can do for us without a lot of extra work - but we will try.

Lastly, as soon as I have the BAP submittal form on line - please start to use it - it will make life so much easier for everyone.

Thanks in advance -

George

George, I sent you a PM.

If anyone else wants to participate or you only need the BAP form, I recreated one using Word that you can fill out on your computer. The one found on our forum is PDF. You print it off and fill it out with a writing utensil of your choice. FYI, George prefers metallic bronze crayon as it reminds him of the beach. As George said it would be more efficient to file electronically.

PM me your email address and I'll be more than happy to send it your way.

Chris -

I am making some changes to the form (additions based on forms from several other clubs - light requirements - substrate - etc etc) also, Ithink I can get this form into a PDF template so that it can be filled out on line and submitted electronically - if I have a problem with that I will let you know - thanks for the offer to convert.

No problem. I already converted the current PDF into a form the other day at work to kill some time. I think it took all of about 5 minutes. Would be happy to do the same for the revised form if needed. I'll PM you my email address in the event that you need to use it.
