NBA Trade talk anyone?

Kind of funny, but Howard really doesn't seem to be too different from Shaq.

From a basketball perspective or from a media attention perspective? Basketball wise, I don't think they are in the same class. Shaq made other teams change their entire game plan, where Howard can disappear from time to time.

Attention wise, Shaq was literally and figuratively bigger than life. Howard comes across as a pouting baby versus someone who demands the attention he gets.

Don't be so sure about them not winning again... If healthy and Wade develops a jump shot like he said he is going to work on, and Lebron can also add to his game... Could be a lot of fun here for a while :)

Big markets have more opportunities for additional money in sponsorships, advertisement agreements, possible movies, etc. That is the draw vs the smaller markets. Watch Nash may appear in some TV shows/movies etc

Nash has already been on tv shows. Entourage comes to mind.

Anybody think Lamar Odom is going to be anybody now that he's back in LA?

I'm curious to see if the bulls make any big moves, especially since they won't have rose half the next season.

I think the bulls will still have a good half season without Rose, they did held their own when he was out for a minute the Noah got hurt

shaq changed the game...remember shaq attack? wilt changed the game with rules made because of him. howard plays well at times but he isnt that dominant force that brings fear /respect from other teams. dont get me wrong he is a all star but he is not in that legend status like other big men. what i dont get is why folks dont like the fact that when its time to test the waters to make as much $ as possible. these guys get treated as if they stole from the world. its a game that has been turned into a business. with careers never promised with longevity one must take the best path to winning that championship. i mean that was the goal since playing at the playground, drive way, high school, ncaa and now the pros. when i see fans pop junk etc about loyalty..thats a joke. a gm will trade you and you find out via espn. translation your family and kids are removed from schools friends and family and everything familiar. oh yeah thats fine as it was a gm saying it right?not the player making a decision on his own career. unlike us normal folks the window of oportunity is small let alone the the job itself. i dont see folks dying to play in china(unless there is a strike) but the gettinto the nba is harder then getting into harvard. no matter what we say or think tomorrow they will still be rich and the folks that are jealous will still hate them because they live the dream we all wanted. watching the nation go anti lebron was funny because it shows where the real mindset is and who we will accept and who we wont.

People are hating Howard because he spends a whole season wanting a trade. He wants a trade, then he denies he wants a trade, then he wants a trade again, then he signs to stay with Orlando, then he gets van Grundy(a great coach) fired, then he wants a trade again. If I was a magic fan I would be livid. He started wearing around t-shirts that say "loyalty" all over the place and then he wants out again.

When I saw him ask for a trade after wearing " loyalty" the first thing I wondered was what happened. What happened to make him want out that wasn't put on espn etc etc. I thought it strange that a player was happy then suddenly not. I think van gundy/gm were fired to appease howard into staying. A plan that backfired in their face as he still wants out. It would make a lot of sense to just trade him and get as much as they can and rebuild. They have to anyway. Nelson is the only one id keep on the starting 5.

From a basketball perspective or from a media attention perspective?

A little bit of both. The most obvious parallel is both being elite big men leaving Orlando. I think Shaq handled the spotlight better, but they both caused a bunch of drama. Howard may not be in the argument for all time great centers, but he is likely a Hall of Fame level player. At this point he is clearly the best Center in the NBA. He may not be the scorer Shaq was, but he still gets nearly 20 ppg. He should probably be in the list of best defensive centers ever, although it would be hard to beat out Bill Russell.

Here are great centers of the nbas all time. The top 10 as a matter of fact. Howard is not great he is good but not bad as these cats. I would have had walton in there somewhere. Howard has yet to prove he is a champion. Like lbj he will have to win a championship to attain a certain status quo and lock his legacy. Until he does he is just another good center that couldn't win a championship. Until he can intimidate his opposition, lead offensively/defensively like a ewing or olajuwon he won't be in the hall of fame.

I think Howard seems better than he is in the historic perspective because of the lack of any other dominant big men in the league. Remember, when Shaq was playing, he always had Ewing, Olajawon, and Robinson (among others) that were traditional centers in the league. Right now, Howard is about the only one. I'm having a hard time even thinking of another traditional center in the league.

I'm not hating on Howard, just think that he is the best in the league now, but not one of the greats of all time.

I don't see the "here" here.

Brandon Roy coming back..same surgery as Kobe did ..i am happy he can get play again
Timberwolves trying to put together a play off run team, its a shame they did not give KG much help when he was there.

Pat Riley acquire Ray Allen and still keep his core that's a good GM move

Howard is going to end up with the nets no matter what it takes they are looking good for the starters, they will lack the depth though but still be a strong contender

Still think it will be the Bulls, Heat and Boston at the end of the season again in the East
OKC, LA in the west..

what's going on with Memphis?

Brandon Roy would've been great. I would love to see him make a comeback after having to retire so young. Haven't heard anything about Memphis. They could use another guard.
