Tonight I stripped several of my females. 3 rusty, 1 red empress, 2 yellow labs, and an electric blue ahili. Some I stripped too soon and have eggs and tadpole looking things with eyes and a tail. However all the rusty which were like this in the last batch have survived and are thriving. I am confident these will as well. Here are some pictures.

I do have a quick question for you all though. Is the spawning date the day the fry come out of momma's mouth or the day that mom and dad throw the fish porn?

I think the spawn date is when the fish porn happens. Although it may have to be estimated if you just see fry or a holding female.

Christine,

I have 8 BAP forms to fill out to submit to Sarah to get my points. I had her verify one batch of Rusties and one of yellow labs at the ECC auction, but I have another batch of Red Empress and Rusties behind them and those I have stripped tonight, so at my count 8 BAP reports I really need to get the forms in on. Some of the stuff from the report I dont know. If spawning is when they do the whole dance milt fertilization. I havent a clue. I dont keep track of my PH and other water measurements anymore I just change my water 1x a week adding in salt, mal. buffer from seachem, SAFE, and 1 drop of tea tree oil per 10 gallons of water. From there I don't really worry with it.

I've turned a few forms in, but still need clarification on a few things. Mostly, on which fields are a "must" fill in vs. those that we "can" fill in.

I would really like to see a set of clear instructions put together for how to fill out the BAP form.

I agree, I couldn't tell you right now what my PH is or that other measurement nor could I tell you what it was when they spawned. Maybe when I have the funds for a fish room which is fully computer automated, monitored and has video/night vision cameras aimed at each tank. LOL. Now anything in my 75 gallon I video tape spawnings there, my 55 is out front. All I know is my fish are healthy enough to be breeding like rabbits, and the fry as you can see are here.

I would also think we need a little revamping of the procedures/rules. Currently rules state a BAP rep. must come to your home 2xs to verify fry. Yet the shorthand which seems to have developed is- 1.) post a pic of your broods. 2.) have the fry verified at auction. 3.) submit forms and 4.) you get points. This shorthanded way is what really had me confused at first. So yeah I agree more than a few things need to be revamped and clarified.
