BUT RICHARD! HOW IS THE TEQUILA BUDDY.

Francine, ceviche is Peruvian. If you would go with me to Peru you would know you just insulted the Mexicans in the crowd. I have friends and relatives in California, frinds from Columbia, and some from Peru. One thing they are sensetive about is their food. Some folks here tend to associate all food from south of the border with all of them. Just don't do that in front of them.

Ceviche is only for lunch too in case you didn't know. Wouldn't want you to slip up and order it at dinner. Ask me how I know.

You're absolutely right George. Ceviche is Peruvian and Ecuadorian, but both are excellent. As for the Tequila, they have plenty of worms waiting for you George.:D

You see, we don't have what Cali has on the West Coast and that's homemade Mexican food on the street. Nowadays, the only Mexican food everyone is exposed to is Tex Mex and that's like, On the Border, Chevy's, Baja Fresh, Chipotle, Mi Rancho( And I personally know the owner, who is very cool,),Guapos (Good Seafood Soup), Uncle Julio's( Good Carne Asada,Good Margerita's and sometimes good Mole), but you're only eating a lesser version of true Authentic Mexican.

I've been to Mexico City, Cancun, Tijuana and I have eaten at the true Mexican restaurants. Back in the day, my high school sweetheart was from Mexico and her mother would cook unbelievable Mexican food that made my eyes water with spicyness, but made my tummy yearn for more.

The closest thing to Mrs. Delarosa and Mexico itself is the place I mentioned in the beginning of this thread and a place in Bethesda called Tia Quita's. That's it. Don't get me wrong I am sure all the food from the restaurants you guys mentioned are very good and I hope to try them one day, but the restaurants I recommended are just my opinion only.

And I haven't even mentioned the Cuban, Peruvian and other South American plus Central American restaurants that are out there. If you're fearless when it comes to food and willing to try International foods, then go for it. OMG, Indian, Chinese, Japanese and good old southern US cooking too.

I'm hungry again just talking about it.:)

lol.... you don't know food till you have been to the actual country.

I like "american chinese", I love "baja mexican" ... but it's just not the same as it tastes in the country. Japanese is different as well !

Didn't mean to insult anyone by any means! Shows you what I know! George, how do you know that about ceviche?

I'd like to have a night out with members to learn what I don't know about the latino food culture? Most importantly, is 'cerveza' the same everywhere?

Francine, you know I have a big mouth and like to put my foot in it. First night in Lima we ate in a nice restaurant. I ordered ceviche (which I didn't see on the dinner menu) and got a not so polite lesson from the waiter. Never do that again.
