I have had a group of these for a while (bought from a past Daves Fish group order). I asked Dave for a recommendation for my 4 ft Mbuna tank.....something that would fit nicely in with my current stocking, would look good, and would be a little different than the usual Yellow Labs and Red Zebras. Well, Dave is a patient man and he's also very good at making recommendations because he recommended these Metriaclima and I positively love them! The dominant male is spectacular-looking and they can hold their own without shredding everyone else in the tank. Here's Daves pic which is very representative of what this fish looks like.

They don't spawn very often in my setup. The last time they spawned, it was the smallest female and she held exactly 8 eggs. 7 made it to juvie-status. I was busy and forgot to report the spawn, but I really wanted more of these, so I'll be keeping that first batch. I just noticed one of the larger females from my original group holding last week, so I've got her separated out in a breeder box. I'll post pics when I strip her, but she's definitely got more than 8 eggs in her mouth!

I've heard some back-and-forth about whether this is the same fish as Metriaclima hajomaylandi. Some say it's the same, some say its different.....Dave sells these as Metriaclima glaucos....so I'll keep calling them that.
