It is a pretty amazing story. Up to this point the best undrafted players have been Bruce Bowen, Udonis Haslem and Darrell Armstrong. None of these players made an all-star team.

The level he is playing at this season, is far better than any of them. Even with an expected drop-off he would be playing at an all-star level. I think the closest comparisons of a player coming out of nowhere would be Gilbert Arenas or Carlos Boozer. Those guys were at least 2nd round picks(and early ones at that), so some one thought they were NBA players even if they weren't expected to be stars.

Ivy League schools do not give Sports Scholarships, but he still chose Harvard.

The local news starts off the sports-report with Lin and the Knicks.
The interviews from Knicks players seem to be a mixed-bag. Stoudemire believes this kid has potential, but Carmelo Anthony sounded skeptical.

He was drafted either last or very close to last in the 1988 MLB draft by the Dodgers, and only as a favor to his father, who was a friend of Tommy Lasorda's. He had played minimal college ball, and not as a catcher, either. Then look what he did.

Not to be too technical, but there are two more Chinese big men who played/plays in NBA. Wang Zhi-Zhi before Yao and Yi Jianlian after.
