Help me stock my 75 Tang

The corys would not stay in the same tank. I might just have to move some of my super peaceful and dumb critters into a 10gal.

Ok, now should I get multis or similis. I read about their behavioral differences. I like the look of similis better, I think.
Which do you prefer and why?
They will be with some "nice" Julies, calvus, and cyps, oh, and the BN pleco would probably have to stay.

Multi's are a little easier to get along with than similis, and unless you're less than 6" away from them you aren't likely to notice the difference in their appearance.

Can I assume that most if the fish I am interested in will be for sale/auction at the Jan meeting? Cyps, julies, calvus, multis. Or is that better arranged privately with various sellers on the forum that may have fry or extras.
How do you best go about stocking? I'd prefer not to do online ordering because of shipping, etc.

Prearranging is probably your best bet for a specific species. You can just start a WTB(want to buy thread) in the marketplace. Some sellers may want a paypal deposit/pre-payment, especially for non-club members.

You may also not want to add all your fish at the same time.

I now have 4 new multies and they are great! No one is bothering them although the one big Juli marlieri (they will find a new home) often visits the shellies like a big, annoying, nosy neighbor but generally doesn't seem aggressive, just strutting his stuff.

In this 75, assuming enough rock, shells, open space, etc. for everyone, can I eventually have:

15 Cyprichromis leptosoma, non-jumbo
4 calvus 1m/3f
2 Juli transcriptus or ornatus
4 multis (shells)
4 Callochromis pleurospilus, 1m/4f

Do you see any problems with this stocking? Is there a species you'd take out or replace with something else?

So far:
5 calvus 1m/3f 1 juvie
4 multis 1m/3f

To be added next:
15 Cyprichromis leptosoma, non-jumbo

Then, I wanted to get a second rock-dweller now that the J. marlieri are gone:
2 Juli transcriptus or ornatus

However, I'd like to get something less "run of the mill". I know there is probably a natural progression of species in fish keeping. Easy fish first, more difficult ones later, etc.
Could I add instead:
Neolamprologus buescheri (too mean, esp for multies? although I hear conflicting info).
How about Chalinochromis brichardi?

Can someone suggest a 2nd rock-dweller that would fit into this community set-up instead of little julies?

Sorry, I am dragging out this decision process...

Either of your ideas are fine and the two that you like are pretty easy to keep :) But, just watch the aggression, they both can be pretty nasty.

I have 5 juvie buescheri in the 220, and multi's in both ends. One buescheri hangs out nearby each group and occasionally charges, but they don't actually follow the multi's very far or constantly harass them. The buescheri also chase the Cyp's occasionally at feeding time, just normal territorial behavior; they aren't fast enough to catch them.

Ok, in my quest for something a little out of the ordinary...how about this in addition to the calvus, multis, cyps?

a pair of triglachromis otostigma
and some Eretmodus cyanostictus or Tanganicodus irsacae (instead of either julies/chalinchromis/neolamp buescheri)
or only one of these? Why or why not?

The trigs would probably be okay...

I have found gobies and shellies not to be the greatest mix... They can be a bit rough on the shellies.

Since cyps need nightly floor sleeping space, would switching out the cyps with paracyps and having only the calvus as other rockdwellers allow me to do a small sandsifter? Are a sandsifter and a shellie too much for a 75 floor space?
Just wondering if cyps vs paracyps changes anything on my equation.

Would paracyps pretty much only stay near the rocks (1/2 of my tank) or will they also swim out in the open (other half)?

I don't believe in horoscopes, but my indecision sure fits a Libra...
