In case you need someplace nice to go in DC....Bruce and I had dinner at the Blue Duck Tavern. We've gone every year for our collective birthdays (his is a week before mine).
Remember, I'm married to a foodie, so holidays and birthdays tend to be over-the-top caloric orgies.

Dinner consisted of the following items that we split:
Salad/Appetizer
- baby kale salad with shaved onions, parmesan cheese, balsamic dressing
- oven roasted bone marrow with pumpkin butter and granola
Main Dish
- 30-day dry-aged New York strip steak with trumpet mushrooms and bearnaise sauce
- market fish - which was swordfish with a chorizo sauce and fall vegetables
Side Dish
- toasted farro with dried fruit, cherry vinagrette, and pickled squash
Dessert
- Stone fruit and blackberry crumble
- warm chocolate cake with fresh cherry compote
