Not further derail but has anyone seen the ESPN 30/30 episode about the birth of "Rotisserie Baseball"? Awesome...

I love baseball and going to the games. It's a pefectly balanced sport. Twice as good as cricket (2 x as many bases) ;)

Just waiting for an invitation...

Sam might enjoy the Washington International Horse Show as a sporting event. Non-stop action, lots of young women in tight clothes, no lima beans or beets at the concession stands and always the chance that someone will get launched into the rafters unexpectedly and taken away by EMTs!

I feel like I've been made/outed - guilty on all counts.

Matt, haven't seen it but back in the 80's I read about it.
My first league was in the 80's, and by the late 90's I was actually burned out by it. We are talking about years before there was the internet too.
If I was in a league right now, besides having the entire baseball package on DirecTV, I would probably have started a Forum on it as well.
We used to try to find halls to have our massive drafts...kind of like now trying to find a place for an auction.

Yes, I do still have the smell - as of tonight. Nature's Miracle is a liquid and I"m loath to add more wetness to the situation. The top of the carpet is basically dry, though. Not sure where the smell is coming from. This is very annoying

It should go away in another day or so...Like Mike said you'll probably get use to it and stop thinking about it

I seem to remember a story about a princess and a certain vegetable

Don't you have some Eau de Cavaletti or something you can spritz on it?

Apologies, bout of insomnia and couldn't resist. You'll be pleased to know I feel much better now.

There's a product called Ozium which is simply amazing. Used in labs to neutralize organic smells. Am guessing it will please you no end.

The good news is the smell is markedly reduced . . . Of course, removing the wet towels that had sopped up the original spill from where I'd tossed them in the bathtub and washing them also helped the situation!!

thanks all.

I will check out the Ozium

+1 on Nature's Miracle. As a dog owner, I can't believe you've never heard of the stuff!

Have Nature's Miracle by the gallon!
but the Ozium is a spray. I'm thinking it will help clear the mildewy scent from the air updatirs. And downstairs also gets to smelling a little "doggy" not from accidents, just from the overabundance of fur (not the greyhound, of course)! So I thought a spray down there might be a good thought.

for my 2 cents worth came home last month and about 20 gallons from my 45H was on the carpet from a middle level seal failure. i did the water vac followed by a number of free standing floor fans, the baking soda carpet freshner which i let sit for approx 3 days before i finally ran the vaccum. no problems, no smells no mold.....

fyi this technique was again tested approx 3 weeks later when one of the tube on my eheim worked its way of the canister and water was steadily flowing luckily i was in the basement at that time and was able to cease operation rather quickly....

With just a gallon you are very lucky. On carpet, i first use fishroom towels and walk on them to absorb water, then I use wet dry vac or carpet cleaner to suck up more. Then i use a fan. If it's a high traffic area I use a hand held hair blow dryer. When I get tired, I use a fan to blow over it overnight and beyond until it's dry. I use paper towels and step on them to see how much water is still left..

If their are wood floors under carpet, I freak out more than usual.
