Group buy on foam?

I use 10 or 20 PPI foam in my canister filters, in place of the stuff the manufacturers use. Works great.

I've got plenty, so won't be going in on the group buy, but thought this information might be useful to someone considering a purchase.

did I see that right, 40sqft? 4' x 10'

Yes sir unless it its over the top expensive. I have a 75, 125, and two 40'a I would like use it on... Unless my math its off that's about what I figured I would need with about two sq feet left over.

Are you doing them length wise? Most people do them on the side.

If you go with HMF(Hamburg Matten Filters) on the sides you need between 2.25(1.5x1.5) and 3 sqft(1.5x2) per tank. So you would need just over 10 sqt feet(10.5) for 1 in each tank. If you doubled up the big tanks 20 should be more than enough.

I have a bunch of 30ppi foam as well but seems we could get a large quantity since someone wants 40 himself.

Will limit this to just 30ppi since that is what people want. Will bring a sample of 30/40 and maybe something else to the meeting so people can see. Should be plenty of time to get it by AM2

I know Doug brought some foam to the meeting last week. Not sure if he is planning on bringing more to AM2.

I have been having nothing but problems getting a sample in. I email, I make a follow up call, I email again and they never send the correct sizes. It is soooo complicated, I want a 30, a 40, and a 50. What do I get... 1 place a 50, another 2 x 40s, ugh. Were I to own a company, I would just go ahead and offshore it since customer service does not exist nor do people really care about their job or the company the work for. If I get a sample in that is 30, will have at my table to see if people still want to do this.

I will also be bring in maybe 2 square yards or so of foam to AM2.

What size in PPI would that be and how much? What color?

--- UPDATE ---

I have 2 samples shipping tomorrow from another company, same one I used for the stuff I had at the last meeting. It is 30ppi and 20ppi.

The 2 companies I contacted earlier were manufacturers and wither did not want to be bothered by this "small" order or could have not given a #$@! about it.

I will have the samples tested using some fry here just to confirm it is still OK and have it at my table at AM2 so people can see and determine what they want.

Here is a link to what I am having shipped and what I have used in my system (and sold at meeting)

We should be able to get a much better price since we are talking a bigger quantity than they are used to selling. The manufacturers were selling this much cheaper.

I will be bringing in a 20, 40 and 50 ppi sample to the next meeting for people to look at. I was unsuccessful in a 30. I would think people would like the 20 if using for biological filters as it will clog far less than the others.
