Temperature is usually the critical factor in the sex ratio for most cold-blooded critters. IME it's generally better to raise some juvies and let them choose their own mates than to put a random pair together. One good breeding pair is all I really want to keep anyway.

Still have juvies available? If so I would like to pick some up at the meeting next week.

I'll see what I can do, but I think most of them have grown up enough to be sexable, and of course, they're all males. :( But if I can pull a group of juvies, I'll bring them for you. You wanted 6, IIRC?

Err, I don't want 6 males, or 6 juvies if all of the earlier spawn turned out male.

Yeah, sorry. I wouldn't want six males either, LOL. Sorry I can't help you out. Maybe the next batch of fry will have a better mix - I've moved the pair to a planted 40 breeder without any other fish, so I can have more control over temperature. Hopefully that will let me get more females.

Hey you got anymore apistos left?

Rama

Rama,
Sorry I did not respond earlier. Yes, I have plenty of males, and I have a very few females. Cartel and Minifoot have dibs on the first two females, and I was pretty sure I had a third and maybe a fourth, but we'll have to see what I can catch and bring to Saturday's meeting.
