Corydoras aeneus spawned

I'm pretty sure as a result of the recent snowstorm, my Corydoras aeneus spawned. (plain bronze cories, not he albino variety)

They've spawned pretty regularly for me during the summers (name a tropical storm/hurricane since I got them and they've spawned) but the last batch of eggs that I saved was from before I was doing the BAP.

One appears to have already hatched and is zipping around in the breeder net....

So I lost the previous spawn because I used a breeder net that has the snap-together panels with the net in the walls rather than the one that has the frame and is surrounded by the net 'baggie'....they escaped through some tiny slots where the sides go together and got eaten by the other grow outs in the tank.

Sigh. I know better than to use that breeder net with them but spaced it at the time.

So, last weekend while doing waterchanges (which were overdue) I was also doing some rearranging and moved the colony to a different tank. I also forgot to plug the heaters back in after the waterchange (oops, I guess all of my 10s and 15s get a cool-down this week).

Last night, I found an enormous spawn (there are 3 big females in the group) all over the tank. Huge patches of eggs on the glass and anubias leaves....eggs were everywhere.

Eggs have been collected and moved for hatching.....hopefully I'll remember to not put them in the same net.

I use 3/4 gallon plastic tubs (with a handle that hangs on the side of the tank) that I get from the Dollar store for hatching eggs / wigglers. No chance they can get eaten or nipped and easy to dip out/in a little water as well. Haven't tried them on Cories, though!

Ideally what I would have liked to do with this latest batch was to leave them in the tank and move everyone else out so that they could just hatch and grow out in the same tank.

Unfortunately you all know how it is.....your evening fills up so you plan to just feed the fish "real quick" so that you get back to doing whatever family-related things are going on.....and that's when you get a spawn....and have to do a half-arsed job of rescuing the eggs/wigglers/other fish in the tank.

So here are the eggs in my ziss (soon to be cobalt) egg tumbler. Since they're sticky, they're all adhered to the bottom and I have the flow of the tumbler turned down but they are still getting a nice current of water going over them. A few are starting to fungus but hopefully it's just a few. I'm not in a position to give them methylene blue tonight....

I got a few dozen C. aeneus fry from this last batch. They're in with some cyprichromis fry at the moment....
