I got a few of these from Shawn. I had thought I lost most of them, but of the three that remain, I have 2M and 1F. I finally saw the female holding a few days ago!

Gorgeous fish, Chris.

How angry are they? The couple of times I tried Tropheops, they bred, but the tanks was an absolute war zone.

These are some of the mellower fish in that tank. They are also smaller than the average Mbuna, and a little slower to mature.

Nice job Christine. Is this her first time holding? IME I will strip the female after 21-24 days. By then there's little or no egg sack and they'll take BBS, Pearls, or RCS fry. The most I have ever stripped was 22 and averaged high teens.

I'm pretty sure this was her first time holding....I look at them frequently in hopes that they'll have spawned.

I did go ahead and strip her yesterday. Very large eggs!

I have never tried to tumble eggs. But you can do all that stuff like breathing.

It's surprising to get such large eggs/fry from such a small mouthed fish. Lol.

So I've been working on these for a while. Lost my previous batches for various reasons. I stripped another batch yesterday....we'll see how they do!

Congrats!

Glad to see that the fish room is all settled in and everything is starting to spawn again.

Yep , it's the same reverse trio. I put them in with a rowdy group of mbuna and they seem to be spawning regularly now. She's a lot less stressed with all of the other targets in the tank.
