BAP: Amphilophus trimaculatum

Well, they spawned!
Here's a short video of the female laying eggs

The female had layed 500 +/- more eggs after the video was over
I just came down stairs to find them ripping eachother apart so I threw in the divider with the eggs on the female's side and I have my fingers crossed

Cool stuff. Similar breeding aggression to my Amphilophus Lyonsii, I had to keep my pair separated permanently to keep the male from killing the much smaller female.

When the fry swim over toward dad he is going to eliminate them. Be prepared to pull fry and raise separately. Just been my experience haven't raised trimacs to spawning age but I know a few people who have and they have shared their own first hand experience with me.

Gotcha, I have a 55 gallon ready to move the fry into

All of the fry hatched but the female ate them
I know its the female because I watched the little dudes hatch and then imediately get eaten while I was packing up for school.
I assumed she was just moving them by putting the little dudes in her mouth and spitting them out somewhere else but she never spat them out. She just kept eating more!
