I picked these up from Nick a few months ago and have had them in a 40 breeder with a few tangs. I saw the male fully colored up about two weeks ago for the first time since I brought them home.

I caught the holding female tonight and she kindly spit the babies out for me.

How big are yours? I have a group of them in a 40 breeder myself but have none of them have really colored up much yet.

Mine are in the 3 to 4" range. I noticed that the male doesn't stay colored up. When he's just chilling, the males and females are REALLY hard to tell apart. I'll walk by the tank and he'll be colored up, then five minutes later he's back to a dark, stripey silver.

Thanks! Mine are in the 2-2.5 range currently. Good to know that they don't stay colored up for you, I just assumed they were not old enough to come into their true colors yet.

well, maybe this one is just now maturing. I've seen some peacocks color up intermittently before the come into their full colors. We'll see how it goes!

When I picked my group up from Jay he did say that these guys were slow to grow and color up. Of course I had nothing to compare to as I have only kept Mbuna and Haps on the African side of things. I will just keep them happy and see how things go! Thanks for the info!
