I got a group of Astatotilapia calliperta trough the Dave's fish group by last year that have started to breed. When I got them they were about 2 in. in size and I decided to put them in with my haps in the 125. Now the male is about 3.5 to 4 in. and the female about 3in. and I'm down to a pair out of a group of 5, the dominate male has been on a terror streak for the past few months, and I have to say these are one of the most aggressive cichlids I've kept.

Its been 19 days now and today I caught the holding female and stripped 50 fry!

These guys and A. burtoni always reminded me of Vics (they're from Malawi).

I kept them a few years ago and found them to be not-too-aggressive but males didn't like each other.

Great to see someone in the club breeding them!
