Archocentrus centrarchus

Finally, I have something that might get me some points.:lol::lol::lol:
I got a group of 7or8 Archocentrus centrarchus and 4 other species of Central American fish from the mini auction at the April meeting. These fish and other were mentioned in the talk that Dr. Paul Loiselle gave on fish from Central American.

I want to thank GJR2(George) for bringing the fish to the auction. Dr Loiselle spoke about their color changes when spawning. I'll tell you, I knew they were spawning the first time I saw them after they changed colors.

Anyway I've had terrible luck with my other fish that spawned this week(Pelvicachromis taeniatus wouri,Amatitlania siquia,Microgeophagus ramirezi)eating their eggs so I'm took some picture hoping this will bring good luck.

The parents are guarding the fry pretty closely, I only knew that after I notice they had hidden the wigglers in a plant, only then was I able to keep track of the fry.

I removed the other fish that were in the tank. Hopefully the fry will be free swimming in the next couple days I plan on moving them to their own tank once this happens.

Glad to be of assistance Kevin. Thay are pretty cool fish and you should have no touble raising the youngins'. They can be mean but I have not found them to be killers. They are fantastic parents. You should be able to keep them with the fry as long as you want.

Well, back to the old drawing board. Looks like the babies got eaten while the forum was down:-{. Oh well I have two other fish that have paired off, maybe they will have better luck.
