Sam,

Stop by the warehouse. I have some tanks with 1-2 pieces of wood in them that you can't see into at all. Some of them have a pH in the fives. :)

Are you boasting about your rigorous maintenance regime once again? Never said it can't be done (and I did mention "successive water changes" though sometimes one needs an ultra-low pH to get things to spawn) but am guessing those tanks aren't aren't subject to a 25% water change once a week, neh? Fess up - how long has it been or since you did anything beyond topping them off? :D

By the way, how big are your A. macmasteri? I need a male even though it may well be the first and last time I'll say that in my entire life.

OK, ok, the pitch black tanks are ones that have nothing but driftwood in them, and it may have been a while since I even topped them off. :-D

But, even with regular water changes (and mind, I do up to 50% daily on some of the tanks), I see water turn at least yellow, and often brown or darker, with a lot of wood in there. At least when the wood is "fresh."

The wild caught Macs that just came in range in size from puny little 1-2" guys to a couple that are around 4" or so. Coming to the PVAS Auction? E-mail me a reminder, and I'll pull you a nice big male.
