I got a group of these a while back at a club meeting. They were very small and I've been growing them out for a while. Out of a bag of 8, I ended up with one female and 7 males! I had been keeping them in a 29 to see how they paired up. I had a bunch of jewel cichlids growing out with them too as well as some adult BN plecos.
I removed the jewels a few months ago, and was able to finally see a pair forming, so I removed the other 6 males and have been letting the pair do their thing. For the first week, they hid, but after that they were starting to be out and about a lot.
I noticed the other day that the female was colored up and defending a small group of fry that were grazing in the tank.
She's starting to get very nasty with the male, so I may need to remove him as well and let her care for the fry on her own.
