Ok so I get home today and I start to feed all my fish and as I come to my A.Siquia "Rio Claro Red Fin" tank and what do I see to my surprise...about 50-70 free swimming fry. Woo hoo LOL. (I got these wc pair from Matt at the aquafest.)
Not only that but my wc fronts are digging all these caves I guess they are getting ready to spwan. Also my Notophthalmus female has a bright red belly doing a snake dance all over the male. Looks like Im having some good luck in my fish room!
I will be selling some of my water at the Nov meeting LOL.

The Rio Claro are not wild caught, F1 at best, Matt got F1 fry from me directly, if they are fry from his fish then they are F2, I am the sole supplier of these fish and have never sold any of the fish I caught in Honduras. I started with one pair and they are still here. No one else has ever had wilds of this fish, ever. We only collected in the Rio Claro once and it's so remote the odds of anyone else ever going there and finding this fish is extremely remote. So your fry will be F2 or F3, still a extremely rare fish in the hobby, glad you bred them. Ken

Beautiful fish, Ken. I have 2 pairs that I got from Matt, but neither of the males have that much blue on them. My less dominant male has quite a bit of red in his tail and the dominant male it constantly in breeding colors, as he wants to breed with anything and everything in the tank.

They are great fish. Thanks for introducing them in the hobby.

Ok F2, or F3 doesn't really matter to me because they are really cool fish and my male as well has a lot of red on his fins. Sorry if I offended you Ken I went off some notes I took from a conversation between Matt and I at the aquafest and maybe I mixed the story up...my bad LOL. Thanks for introducing these cool fish to the hobby, I will keep everyone updated.

Yes - they're offspring of the F1 fish I bought from Ken...so they're officially F2...

I have lots more :)

Post some pics when you get a chance, Jumbie - the pair you got were stunners!

No offence, I just set the record staright when I see someone mis-informed, same thing with the La Ceiba Parachromuis, I see people trying to sell wild ones, they don't exist since on 5 wild ones were ever collected, so I straighten them out. Little more info on the Rio Claro fish, I caught one pair in breeding color and show them to the rest of the guys on the trip, they all thought I was crazy keeping some "convicts", jokes on them, Same with the Rio Choluteca orange fin Convict, I was the only person to keep any, two of the most popular fish I raise!
