A Few Fishroom Pics

I have some Gymnogeophagos "Norte" and "Catalan" that I presume are collection site names. Any idea which species they would be?
The "Norte" look something like the your G. labiatus "Tres Puentes" aside from the yellow head. Mine aren't yellow (yet?), and they have a very distinct black edge on the dorsal fins. They're still young and small, though I have a recent pair with their first spawn (now wgglers) in the 45 growout along with 6 others and 6 similar-size cutteri. Loads of BN juvies too, but they're no threat...

Great looking fish Matt! I've seen some of them in person, so I know they look even better in person. You'll have to add some new pictures of fish you recently had imported from New Jersey.

The Norte that I know are from Sequeira and are a rhabdotus-type (substrate spawner). Here's a link from Felipe's site: http://www.aqvaterra.com/cichlids_gymnogeophagus_n_sp_sequeira.php

What's strange is that they're very similar in appearance to the Gymnogeo found a couple of hundred miles south in Sarandi. Oddly enough, I've got both ;)

The Catalan is also from the north (Arroyo Catalan Grande). Like most waterways, there's a substrate spawner and a (delayed mouthbrooder) Gymnogeo. I think you've probably got the substrate spawner: http://www.aqvaterra.com/cichlids_gymnogeophagus_n_sp_catalan.php

I don't have these guys so let me know if you have some extra fry :)

The Tres Cruces is a delayed mouthbrooder from Eastern Uruguay...

Yes - some great new stuff thanks to my ECC "agents" Mike and Tony!

I haven't done an "Old World" thread yet - you're only looking at a sampling of the New World stuff ;)

Both the Norte and Catalan (not the Catalan Grande) I have match the pics in the links well enough except for the black edge on their dorsal fins. Could that be a spawning color/indicator thing? Both species have it.
