One pendant would be pretty cool. I like having some dark corners in the tanks. Gives a sense fo more depth to the tank and also gives a couple more hiding spots for fish that like to chill in mid-water. Pics?

I'll try and get some pics this week, once I get some more rocks in there. I took some this weekend, but I had trouble getting good shots and the tank glass needs to be cleaned.

Nearly killed myself tonight lifting these rocks into the tank. I know some of these weigh 80+lbs each. Do you think that is ok for the tank? I was standing in it the other day and I weigh about 180, so I'm hoping this won't stress the tank.
Anywho, I just kinda threw this together in a few minutes tonight, so it isn't final yet.
I had a tough time getting pics to turn out good. It does look much better in person....
Let me know what you think.

Looks great, Greg. Glad you were able to roughly match the color and shape of the background with the rocks you are using.

All too often, folks cheap out when it comes to the rocks sitting in front of their very nice (and pricey) background. These are perfect.

Well for the weight distribution you can use the plastic light diffuser grates that they sell for over head florescent lights. They are plastic and are a grid of about 1/2" squares.

I wouldn't worry about them if you have a solid stand to put it on.

It looks great and cant wait to see it with fish swimming around

Here's a link to Lowes for the item im talking about to distribute the weight/ Cut them to fit and put them in the tank prior to placing your sand and rocks into it to spread the weight a bit more around the tank rather then have it pin pointed.

I filled it with water tonight and took a short video. This is with one 250wt halide over the middle. Water is a bit murky.

Hopefully this works. Never uploaded a video b4.

Looking awesome.

ps do a search on these forums for "imbed" it is very easy.

Thanks.
I think I may have to switch to a 10k bulb. It's not as washed out as it looks in the video, but I think less blue would look much better.

Great choice of rocks and background you did a good job. I agree with you 100% on the lighting. A little less blue would be better for cichlids. HAve you decided whats going into the tank?

Cichlids.

j/k. Still deciding either mbuna or peacocks/haps.

Finished up the filtration today. I rerouted the overflows and reduced them to 1" piping from 1.5". They go across two layers of 2" foam. The foam is suspended off the bottom a few inches by some 3" pvc collums that I notched out on the bottom so no detritus would get stuck inside.

WOW that tank looks awesome in that video. Congrats on planning and executing a badass tank. I say go BIG HAPS in that thing.

Can someone pm me some links of good places to order fish.
I guess I should start planning while the tank is cycling, but I have no idea what I like most.
I like small fish, so mbuna are looking good to me. I like their colors too.
A lot of those male peacocks are beautiful too.
I also like the moori and the Placidochromis sp. ''Phenochilus Tanzania''.
Another thing is I really don't feel like dealing with any breeding, so what would be my options for all males?

Take a look to see what fish look like. I'm not into breeding but like color so my peacock/hap tank is all male. It's taken me awhile a lot of growing out and selling the rest and some I have bought when they were older.
