    Planted tanks without CO2?

I'm getting annoying with the CO2 in my 58-gallon planted tank. I have three different CO2 thingees that you attach to the top of the co2 tank with a bubble counter (can't think of the name). All three seem defective, though for different reasons (gauges don't work, etc.). I just changed the...

    45 Planted Stocking?

Looking for new world stocking ideas... I've had a 45 gallon planted tank set up for a long time - probably pushing 8 years now. It's full of anubias and drift wood. I used to have rainbows stocked in there, but sort of lost interest. It's planted super dense, so there's not too much open...

    Lighting for a planted tank

Decided to try some plants in my 20L and need some help on lighting. I did some research and need help picking how many watts. I can get a fixture with 2x24watt bulbs or 4x24watt bulbs. My concerns are that the 2x24watts is to little and the 4x24watts are to much for the 20L. Thoughts?

    Planted Tanks Oct 2010

Hey guys, Talking to Sam on another thread yesterday made me realize I hadn't taken any decent shots of the planted tanks lately. To be honest, I've sort of let them go lately. Have a CO2 setup with a pH controller on the 45, but the solenoid is sort of screwed up, so I haven't had the CO2...

    Pondering -- Planted African tank

Just mulling over some options for when I upgrade my African tank. Will have a family group of Vics and six syndontis lucippinis. I typically do Eco-complete cichlid substrate plus Tahitian Moon sand, and lace and Texas/holey rock for my Africans. I'm plant-experienced and have a massively...

    Covers on planted tanks

I was wondering if there is is any particular reason I never see covers on planted tanks? I am planning one in my future and it will be in the kitchen/dining area. I am sure there will be plenty of complaints about humidity/smell if theres no cover on the tank so is there a specific reason I...

    Zahrah's 10 Gallon Planted

Here are some shots of my daughter Zahrah's 10 gallon planted tank and the male Apisto Agasazzi I got from ChrisTodd. They were taken with my lowly Canon SD100 3.2 Megapixel point and shoot. We are growning Scarlet Temple, bronze Crypts, Argentinian Swords, A Java fern, Moss, Wisteria, Rotala...

    Planted tank substrate depth

I'm not great with planted tanks, but I like keeping plants in with my discus. I've always had trouble keeping the plants rooted in my substrate. I know its not very thick, so I'm trying to find out the ideal depth to build it up to. Also, how do you actively manage keeping such a deep bed...

Anyone Trying A Planted Tank This Year?

I have tried a 29 gal. Which seems to be one of the easiest and least expensive to go for. Although a low light 20 long seems to be the way to go if you are new to that particular facet of the hobby. My 29 looked really good in the beginning, but now has fallen to hard times with the blue...
