I have decided to give geos a try. I looked through some photos and these are the ones I have decided I like. Either red or orange head doesnt matter to me. I would like a get a group since they will go in a 125. Anyone know of any in the area?
Actually how many would be recommended for a group?
plastic tube of my sponge filter???? He was all the way at the bottom of the tube (which attaches to the top of the filter). I pulled the tube out, grabbed his tail (thinking he was dead) and he went eeek and jumped back into the tank. WTF??
I want a Geophagus Red Head Tapajos. Where can I find a pair. what other medium or large cichlid can I keep with them in a 75? I was thinking discus but don't know if I can afford them.
I have about a 7-inch or so female yellow head la ceiba freddie, that I got from DQ a little over a month ago. Well, she was fitting in fine for a while, but since I moved her and my oscar to another tank, she has become progressively more aggressive, and right now, she is just a little TOO...
w00t!
I picked up a large group of gold headed A. compressiceps last fall from Julie (Thanks again!). I've had them in the 75 community - 8 total and they appear to be balanced 4/4 M/F. They share the tank with Cyp leptosoma Utinta and Paracyp nigripinis. The largest of the males are...

Anyone keeping orange heads? I have three, all of which I think are males only because they are constantly beating on each other. Is there any way short of venting that you can sex these guys? All three have pretty good coloring and are very similar in markings.
Assuming that I do have three...
Awesome, good looking fish, but he's not fitting the temperament of the tanks that I'm currently keeping. He's about 3 inches tl...I'd love to trade him for a smaller, aggressive sa/ca, some driftwood. I'm also in the market for a 75, 90, or 100 gallon if you're interested in doing a partial...
I recently received a fish gift. I noticed the Aulonocara Lwanda had some unusual pigmentation on the head when I first got it. It was still in its pale coloration and I didn't pay close attention to it. Well since it has settled in, and got it's color, I tried taking some photos of it...
Well, several days ago I broke down the community tank that was housing my Julidochromis dickfeldi and Altolamprologus compressiceps (Gold Head). Put the Gold Heads in their own tank with a nice little cave and a couple of rocks. Today I noticed about a dozen unfertilized eggs sitting on top of...
I learned at the meeting that there is a difference (I assume collection points) and went to search the net for pics. Do any of the tang folks know of a way to distinguish them? After looking at what pics I could find, I'd say my group has attributes of both types. Mine were listed on OFNF as...
My first attempted "close-up". It is a very young compressiceps (Gold Head), fish is only 2" long. The head is colorful but the rest of the body is still bland.
