I usually give them something with a little more protein in it than I feed my mbuna. Most basic cichlid formulas will work just fine.
Right now I've got NLS and Northfin cichlid formula open in my fishroom to feed to them.

Lots of different foods out there and everyone has a favorite.
I use New Life Spectrum 99% of the time.
There may be better. Some of our sponsors have great foods. I just have not switched from what has worked for me. Been using if for10+ years

Little late to the party but I also use Hikari Cichlid Gold for my hap.peacock tank.Started using it for my BGR's initially. Feeding frenzy pretty much tells me they like it. Any quality food works including those sold my members. Will try member blends when I run out.
