Will these breed if I add these to their tank?

Do you guys think Apisto. cacatuoides will still breed if I add two female (non-aggressive) killifish to their tank to condition for breeding? Or do they really need a species tank to get into the mood?

It is probably worth a try. Have your apistos spawned in the past?

How long are you planning on conditioning the killies?

My concern would be more for the killifish. Try it out... see what happens. Just make sure the tank is well covered in case the killies lose the arms race and are relegated to the top corner of the tank. :)

I have a pair of killies in the same 15 gal tank as a pair of spawning apistos. I've never seen any injuries and to be honest, I've never seen them even interact with each other.

That being said, I have not had successful spawns out of my Apistos. Lots of egg-laying....no surviving fry. Personally, I don't think the problem is the pair of killies, though.

Might be good for them

Wild Apistos should have such benign neighbors. Go for it.
