First Time With Apistos

I'm going to add at least a pair of A. cacatuoides to my 30g which currently has a school of 15 neons and 4 kuhlii loaches. How are they best kept: pairs, groups?

The tank is what I consider heavily planted with anubias, has a dark substrate, and four good-sized pieces of driftwood. Will that suffice or should I look into adding some sort of caves, such as flower pots?

Thanks.

I would start out with the pair with all the other fish you have. Things are going to get pretty interesting when they spawn anyway.

Apistos will pick a good site amongst the driftwood if you don't want to add one.
