you start cleaning up and find that you have
21 spare Hydro sponges "just in case"!
And that does not count the spare hydo parts, the dirt magnet sponges, the "nielson filters", or the extra Poret foam you have in the storage area of the basement.

I guess its time to stop bidding on these at meetings. What do you think.

Oh and that does not count the 75 sponges that are in tanks.

You find you have 12 extra heaters, again "just in case" and you only have 5 tanks that you use heaters in normally.....

you have 53 tanks running, 6 more tanks you use to sell fish at shows, another 6 tanks you use to show fish at some shows, and 1 tank set up to advertise the club at expo's or conventions....

You have fish related items all over the house and the first thing that is put up when the kitchen is finished is a tin fish on the wall.

You know you are obsessed with the hobby when you look in the Produce aisle for veggies that would better fit your fish than your family.

You know you are obsessed with the hobby when you wake up your son at 4:30am and take him 2 1/2 hrs to eat breakfast...just because THAT restaurant is near the Fish Facility that you are visiting.

You know that you are obsessed with the hobby when you plan on buying something from Omaha Steaks NOT because of the food, but because their Styrofoam containers are the best to travel with your fish.

You know you are obsessed with the hobby when your 14 year old son is the best in his class at working an Eheim filter in his Biology class.

I've been looking around at the "just in case" spare items lately and thinking I need to get rid of the extras.
If it's any consolation, the hydrosponges are stackable. Bigger sponges will collect more debris, and keep some of it from accumulating in the poret filter/s.
Unless most of your heaters are Stealth Pro's you probably don't need that many spares...
I did have a python hose rupture; apparently it wasn't strong enough to handle the pressure from the main water line in the basement. For a minute there it was raining in the basement as the water from the split hose shot straight up then ran/dripped from the ceiling. I haven't used the shutoff valve on the python since.
