I know it's not really cichlid stuff right here but I need soft water, acidic pH, low light plants. Think Amazon scape.

I need a bunch. Anyone? I'll be at the meeting in September most likely.

Here is what I should have available for the meeting:

Rotala Rotundifolia = 15 stems, $1 a stem or 7 for $5

Ludwigia Repens x Arcuata = 10 stems, $1 a stem, 10 for $7

Hygro Difformis = 6 stems, $1 a stem or $4 for all

Hygro Tiger = 10-15 stems, $1 a stem or 7 for $5

Rose Sword Plantlets = 3, $5 each

Hemianthus micranthemoides = 20 small stems for $5

nesea triflora = 15 stems, $1 a stem or 7 for $5

Java Moss = 6 available, Softball size, $7

May have some of the following by then:

Sagittaria subulata

Hairgrass

2 additional Hygro sp (unknown) Still waiting on ID

Christmas Moss

Crypt Wendtii Bronze

Ludiwigia palustrus

I will give you an enormous bag of just such plants (water sprite, Java moss, Java fern, hornwort, Limnobium, Valisneria, Hygrophilium, etc.) for free if you become a member. Won't be at the September meeting but am in NW DC and can probably work something out.

It's the least that you could do to make it worthwhile for me to invest $1.67/month in joining the CCA...

In my experience, Avatar is quite generous with trades of plants. I'd guess a big bag is about the size of a gallon ziplock bag, stuffed pretty full.

It's a very nice offer.

Sam is, indeed, very generous with plants and all of his plants are low-light/hardy varieties.

The benefits of a CCA membership (aside from Sam's offers) are very good - discounts on fish at some of the local stores (if you can remember to present your card), an invite to the annual BBQ, and eligibility for group buys, which often means discounted purchases and shipping. It's not that expensive, either. You'll spend more on a couple big Amazon Swords.

"Nastiers"? I happen to like snails and will maintain that the only thing in my tanks that might remotely qualify as "nasty" would be duckweed. Most cichlids seem to eat snails so haven't found them to be a problem, especially as they only seem to manifest strongly in overfeeding situations.
