hey yalll, I need a light for a 55 gallon asap. Thanks to Phil we found out its putting out 110 watts. Way too much as algae is getting crazy. Each 4 pin bulb is 55 watts. Wish I could just get lower wattage bulbs for it. So if anyone has anything at all, shoot me a PM. Thanks!

Not to be Captain Obvious, but what about just removing one of the bulbs? Then you'd be at 1 watt per gallon (WPG)... adequate for fish at least. If you don't want to do that I've got a single bulb fixture I'd trade you if that would be better for you. Of course I'd chip in a couple bucks to make the difference.

You can also get single or dual-bulb T5 or T12 "shop light" fixtures at your local Home Depot or Lowes for probably less than twenty bucks. T5s will be more efficient.

I just call 'em as I see 'em :).

I do, however, honestly think Captain Obvious deserves more play in this world. Especially on days like this where the dumdum on summer performance tires in the 350Z is attempting to get up the hill of a 4-lane highway and only being successful at sliding--sideways, blocking BOTH lanes--back down the hill. Shocking, summer tires on a RWD don't work in snow. ;)

They are a power compact bulbs that look just like this --http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18367/si1381745/cl0/currentusa65wattdualdaylightpcbulb23

So if i remove one bulb on one side the other one does not work then.
