WTB Fry Savers

Hi There,

I have some diamond tetra fry living in a bucket with on-and-off airation. I want to give them something better so they survive and I heard that a hanging fry saver is the way to go. Does anyone have any for sale? I might want more than one since I popped my angelfish pair in a breeder and anticipate fry from them as well. Thank you.

If you are talking about the floating net ones, you have to lift it up and put it back in the aqaurium every hour or so, because the water inside of it gets pretty stagant.

I don't have that problem with my floating net types unless I overfeed the fry. I have heard of that problem with some of them, though.

I also don't like the hang-on the inside inside kind of nets (although I still use them from time to time) because I forget to move them during waterchanges and I've beached several batches of babies that way (all survived, BTW).

Will Ken from Ken's fish room make an appearance at the next meeting? Maybe he can bring over some fish savers and save me shipping.

I don't think he's ever come to a meeting, but his prices and shipping charges are quite reasonable.

Ken's in Massachusetts, I think...

Orders over $100 have free shipping :)

Even though he couldn't make it to AquaMania, he was a great sponsor and gave us several gift cards. Maybe we should make one a raffle prize for the April meeting!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I definitely don't need $100 worth of fry savers, but I may try the ones on amazon.com or just chec out what they have at my local aquarium.

I'm a big fan of the fry savers that Kens sells. With the addition of the little sponge, a port for an air line, and multiple tiny holes for "flow through", the water never gets stangnant in there.

I have the Marina hang-on breeder box like Christine has and I absolutely love it. I'm currently keeping BN's that just left their cave in a large one. It works great and I plan on getting a couple more of them.

I've had bad luck with the nets that hang inside the tank... adult fish are still able to injure and kill fry through the net

I use the net breeders always and have created a plastic canvas cover so other fish cant injure the fry, works well for me...I also put an airstone in the breeder for circulation to prevent stagnant water
