My girlfriend is looking for a Duboisi mainly. However she would also like a peacock, the ones shes mentioned liking are: German red, riby red, benga, midnight, eureka, blue orchid, blue regal, flametail, chilumba, sunshine. We are also looking for a bumble bee. Ive called about every LFS, including petsmart and petco. Noones got a duboisi. I can find the peacocks at HOT and bumblebees are fairly common. However we want to add them at the same time. Were looking for smaller fish, probably between 1"-2.5".

As far as the peacocks, were looking for something inexpensive. Were new and dont think we are ready for a 40 fish. I know some peacocks can be pricey.

Let me know, we are located in Elkridge, Md

check out Jay's website cichlidsarespecial.com..he has nice fish.. you could make the drive out to him if you think that the shipping expenses may be too much.. he is about 80 miles from the meeting place in silver spring.. so it would be a little bit closer for you guys.. give him an email and let him know what you want.. got great prices.. very accommodating guy as well.. :happy0158:

Are you trying to do a mbuna/peacock tank? You need to pick your mbuna carefully if so i.e. p. acei, labs and rusties are the usual go-tos for this.

Or are you doing an all male peacock tank? If yes, you're best starting with juveniles that are just starting to show color. And it's best to stay away from the more aggressive peacocks i.e. dragon blood, jacobfriberghi types and the more mild types i.e. maylandi and blue orchid . . .

Reed

Very Fishe
I have Eureka Reds about 1 inch, yellow blaze fry, and bengas and some others. Send me a pm

We do have an acei and yellow lab. Im not sure which others are mubuna.
We arent really doing specific species. Currently we only have 1 per species. Except the 2 gbr's but they are in the tropical/community tank. We are new to cichlids so we are expiramenting/deciding which route to go. So far everyone gets along, but in the future if any problems come up, we will seperate or trade them out. We can even set up more tanks ;)

If i told you our stock you would probably flip on me lol.

If you're new to cichlids you need to be especially careful with your stocking. With cichlids, you can't toss a bunch of "pretty" fish together and expect it to work. You end up with dead fish, unfortunately.

If you buy a bunch of peacock fry, then you're heading toward a colony set up, which is fine. But you have to make sure the other tank mates won't eat them and won't interbreed with them.

Labs and acei are flexible and can go in a variety of settings, but they do feel most comfortable in a group.

What size is the tank? that also plays into what fish are viable for you.

Well, she has decided against the bumblebee.

We just need to find a duboisi and peacock somewhat locally. We live in Elkridge, willing to travel about 45 minutes at most.

Picked up a duboisi, eb ahli, and ruby crystal peacock

I hope the eb ahli a male. Its blue, easily the biggest in the tank. The guy said it may go from blue to grey if its a female.
