WTB: 265G Perfecto

I'm interested in the Perfect 265G tank or one with similar dimensions (84" x 24" x 30"). Specifically one with the espresso stand and the corner overflows.

Anyone have suggestions for stores in the area that have the best prices for this kind of tank?

Also, anyone know where I could go to actually see one, with the espresso stand, in person?

Thanks.

Check with Mark at Anubias Designs (one of the site sponsors). I saw one of his threads on MFK that he was having a sale on tanks.

I would find another brand of tank if I were you, I had a bad experience with that tank (perfecto 265) a couple of years ago. My tank was only a couple of years old and a corner seam started to come apart, just not a very well made tank IMO. I dont know where you live but if you speak with Jim at Tropical Fish World I think he can get some big tanks right now with very reduced prices, maybe an AGA 210, thats what I bought after my 265, just a thought good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. Perfecto was recently acquired by marineland. Not sure if that is better or worse. In any event, the AGA 210 is not what I want. I want a tank that is basically 7' long and 2' deep. I don't need 30" of height, though I'd want at least 27".

If there's another standard tank out there (other than glasscages, which I'm aware of) or a custom made one that somehow isn't more expensive, then I'm all ears.

I've heard negative things about every tank, though I have not heard too much about perfecto's 265 specifically.

i too would suggest checking with mark and anubiasdesign (anubiasdesign.com). He is located in Bensalem PA (north of philly).

Build one yourself out of plywood. George's 265 is awesome. Two sheets of plywood and one piece of glass. I have the glass to do mine - just need to build up the marriage points to start the project.

I have the 265G perfecto tank and I have an annoying issue of water leaking from the top of the tank. It is very weired. I usually fill up the tank .5" to .75" below from the top trim, but for some reason water leaks (very slightly) from the top trim down the glass. I don't know if there is a problem with the seal, or it's water splashing from the filters that's causing this, but that's the only issue I have with the tank. I have had the tank for almost three years, but no other issues. I have a cherry stand. It's not for sale.

Rachel, thanks. I looked at the website, but he doesn't seem to sell tanks at all. What am I missing?

Michael, if I had the ability to build a beautiful show tank for my living room and love the way it looked then trust me, I would do it.

Lonny, the lack of any real warranty bothers me. You just should not sell a tank that costs four figures and not be able to promise that it will last a long time. I have heard good and bad things about all manufacturers, but that lack of any real warranty is what gets me. If they felt confident in the quality then they'd lose nothing by guaranteeing their larger tanks for a lot longer.

YSS, thanks for the input.

I have a 110g Perfecto with the same issue, mines over 20 years old and has been doing it since the last move 12 years ago. I think it's leaking under the top plastic rim, the seal must have broke. Probly from when the rim was held when setting it in place.

Thanks. I will check him out.

Any other suggestions for a manufacturer/brand of a tank this size other than perfecto or glasscages?

Any other suggestions for a reputable place to purchase such a tank for a good price?

Thanks again.

That is a great price! AGA has all of their tanks (tank only) on special. I saw at Superpetz that they have the standard 125 for 300.00, also a good price new.

Just when I thought I'd been convinced to go with acrylic, I'll have to compare prices, including stands/canopy to figure all this out.
