What type of yellow peacock could this be?

It's about 2 3/4ins. I bought it as a sunshine but that was all it said on the tank. I also bought as a female and this is what it became. I thought lemon Jake because of the purple, but the cuts of white in the dorsal and tail say otherwise. The blue fish is a hybrid of German red and red shoulder. I like this one alot.

But there is no red in him. The bottom fins look a little orange only when he closes them. Otherwise he's all yellow.

OK. It looks orange on my screen. Maybe some jacobfreibergi mix then. Looks more jake than stuartgranti.

It has a little of the looks of a Chitande Type North.
They are a bit rare in the hobby. Did you buy it from a store or someone privately?

I bought it at a LFS called Alamo aquatics, here San Antonio, TX. You could be right, it does have that exact look. Thanks for the info.

It looks like a sunshine to me and actually a nice one. It will color up more as it ages.

Def a Aulonocara Maleri male just young.

if it's from San Antonio then you should see if the fish originally came from Dave Schumacher...Dave carries them.

I was going to say: If I lived in San Antonio I wouldn't buy an African Cichlid from any store except Daves :)

the only problem with that is that Dave's is only by appointment and half the time I go in there he doesn't have what I want. Don't get me wrong I would rather go to him. I only have a 40g. I did get my Julies and syno.multi. From him. What I mean by he doesn't have what I want meaning that his best fish are to big for my tank. Hell I used to drive to Armkes for my fish about ten years back.

Another thing I know my fish will get to big for the 40 so eventually I will upgrade. Then to Dave's I go.:banghead:

I am keeping a colony of ruby reds in a 40 breeder, but usually that is not a recommended tank for all but the most docile of peacocks. Since it's not entirely clear what this is, I'm not sure will it meet that criteria. What makes my colony work is very intensive planted sight breaks.

definatly not a chitande type north, there is only two peacocks that i know of that have a black band in the dorsal, your fish has white tipped dorsal, to me it looks like a sunshine and ive seen them from shades of orange to yellow, btw german reds are line bred from sunshines (aulonocara sp. stuartgranti maleri)
