What Have I Done to Offend the Aquarium Gods?

Last Thursday, one of my lights (a Deep Blue, if you're keeping score) stopped working. Sunday, I had the Eheim 2028 impeller problem I mentioned in another thread. This morning, I discovered that a 20H tank was leaking along the front bottom seam! Luckily, it's in the basement, with a very forgiving floor.

Guess I will learn how to reseal a tank.

More importantly, do I need to make some sort of sacrifice for the angry gods?

Ive been there too buddy. It does suck. Reseal will not be hard and its a very good skill to learn. Now maybe somthing good will happen for you now.

Sorry, no sympathy here unless you lose an entire tank of male peacocks and haps to an unexplained nitrite spike (as happened to both me and Tony)

Wow Matt. That's a string of some pretty bad luck.

20 gallons doesn't seem like big tank until you empty it on the floor. Like you said, at least it wasn't in a bad place.

Bummer, Matt. Seems like we all go through some inexplicable stuff every now and then. Glad it wasn't too bad, all things considered. Compared to some of the other happenings to club members (house fires, huge tank wipes, raccoon attacks), I feel pretty lucky.

You need to sacrifice some of your fish. Say, by giving all your atropersonatus to another club member...

Yes, this really isn't that bad. But it's a weird string of equipment failures.

I guess I'm lucky Jeff Michels postponed his shipment or I'd have even more fish to move.

Nah

Just stop believing in them - it robs them of any/all power. Causality however is a tougher more enduring prospect...

In any case, partaking in sacraments (liquid or otherwise) rarely hurts (in moderation) and can greatly enhance one's perspective...

Have replaced the 20H with a tank Aldrich sold me. (May reseal the old tank, but that's longer-term project.)

Got a new impeller and impeller shaft and the 2028 is humming along again. (Have to say that the impeller looks exactly like the spare 2017 impeller I already had, even though it has a different part number.

May tackle the light fixture tomorrow.
