Water proofing

I have some projects in mind. Backgrounds, caves, hideyholes, etc. All need to be water proofed to go in my tanks.

But what's safe? I looked at Drylok today but there are no clear options. I'd really like my water proofer to be clear so I can use my enamel and acrylic paints underneath for fine detail.

My dad has cans of clear enamel, polyurethane, etc.

What should I be looking for besides no mildew control and able to withstand immersion?

I made a concrete/foam background last winter and to seal the outside I used a concrete acrylic sealer. It was more of a milky/purple color but I also brushed it on. It's supposed to be sprayed on or mixed in to the concrete mix (I was doing this after I had installed the background into the tank so neither was an option).

If you take that route and spray a couple coats of the sealer on it'll be clear and visually colorless.

Can you share the brand and formula with me? I'm really worried about safety and would like to use something that's already been found safe.
