Ideal dimensions are 8' x 2' x 2' or 6' x 3' x 2'
WOW! Good luck on that one. I have a 6' x 3' x 2' that I built myself. Just build a plywood box. Cut a hole in the front and coat the inside with three coats of epoxy. Put in 3/8 inch glass and you are in business. Should take about two weeks in your spare time.

Yea, I don't think I'm going to build one myself. Actually at least two or three times a month 240 gallon or larger tanks appear on craigslist. Sometimes at reasonable prices and often not. 8' x 2' x 2' isn't too uncommon but yea, 6' x 3' footprint is tough to find, at least until the marineland tanks have been around for a few years.

There's one on CL now but it leaks :(

There is also a 5x2.5x2.5 on CL now for a decent price. Sorry I don't have the link right now.

I wasn't trying to be nasty. It really is pretty easy to build it yourself and the 3 x 6 footprint really is nice. I also didn't realize there were many tanks of that size on Graigslist. I better start frequenting it. Thanks for the tip.

I've been toying with making some tanks out of 2x4s and 3'x5' (concrete) hardiboard. Sealing with drylok.

I've got a couple of leaker 55's that are begging to be turned into something much larger!

Didn't think you were nasty at all George. Do you have pics of your setup I can see?

How long did it take you? If it is that easy then maybe I can afford to hire you to do it ;)
