In a community. I plan to remove the fry and attempt to raise them myself in a 40 breeder.

Not always. Parental instinct can turn into predation or territorial instinct at a moment. Parental instinct tends to weaken over time and specially when the parents are ready to spawn again. I have CA that leave the fry alone for months, then one day the fry population began to thin out. If you want to grow out the fry, remove a few from the parents after a few weeks.
