Variabilichromis moorii spawn

I got a group of these Tangs from Batfish a while back and have been growing them out. I was warned that they can be pretty nasty so I moved them into a 75 with a bunch of other Malawi and Tangs a few months ago. I noticed two turning from tan/yellow to dark gray. The literature says they turn back when spawning so I figured they were just thinking about it but hadn't done anything yet. The male was furiously guarding a small cave yesterday and I took a closer look today. I'll be darned...there are wigglers!

Cool - are you going to let them raise in the tank or pull (some or all) of the wigglers?

Can't say that I've heard of these bred before!

I pulled the wigglers since it's a rather rambunctious tank.

They have been bred before. I've heard a few theories on how to get them to spawn. First is that they spawn during the full moon (it's waxing gibbous right now). The other is that they spawn when other fish around them spawn...which is why I've been keeping them in a community tank. I'm leaning toward the second theory.
